Last Resort: Best New Show of the Fall

September 24, 2012

Scheduled in perhaps the worst position on the whole broadcast network schedule, ABC’s Last Resort has a rough road ahead of it. Used as a launching board for new shows, nothing has excelled there since 2006’s Ugly Betty. That being said, I just saw the pilot and it’s the best one I have seen for this season. Truth be told, I am not sure how it will run as a series; this might be reminiscent of Ashley Judd’s Missing from last season (which incidentally also ran in that time slot) that ran as a mini-series instead of a regular show. That being said, it could very well have all sorts of LOST-ish turns that make us all want to stay around longer.

I highly recommend you take a look. In case you’re not around on Thursday night to watch it, I have embedded it below. Andre Braugher is, expectedly, commanding in his role as captain of the trouble-bound submarine USS Colorado. The locale is lush and beautiful. The storyline immediately makes sense. The action is fast-paced and edge-of-your-seat. And that pull away ending gave me LOST all day. I immediately gave it a season’s pass on the DVR. You might too. Give it a chance.
