Cougar Town Jumps to TBS
Thank God for TBS! Penny Can, Big Carl and the whole Cul-de-sac Crew have been saved from ABC’s proverbial ax and will take refuge on TBS (very funny, indeed) next fall. While Cougar Town is not the first show to jump to a cable network (Southland, The Game), most do so after they have been cancelled. TBS swooped in and told ABC: “We want your show. What’s up?” And ABC said okay. Well, something like that. I wasn’t there for the official negotiations, so that is my version of the story. But who cares? Cougar Town will be back and we won’t have to worry about it being post-poned, ignored, treated like a red-headed step-child or anything.
I think this is actually a good fit for the show. In fact, just last week, I suggested to someone (when word first came about that TBS was interested), that Cougar Town would be great for TBS and help up their comedy game. Plus, when NBC does the inevitable, there’s a chance TBS might pick up Community and create the World’s Greatest Comedy Block (Wonder Twins, Unite!!).
