Another strike for quality television. A week after FOX renewed the critical and fan favorite Fringe for a fifth season, another high in quality, low in viewers series, the once-cancelled-by-NBC, but saved-by-TNT Southland was renewed for their fifth season. Congratulations go out to series stars Regina KingMichael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy and Ben McKenzie. Now, please, can the jokers over at NATAS finally take notice? King and Cudlitz have consistently turned in performances better than some of the people who do make the final Emmy ballot. And this past year, Hatosy and McKenzie both stepped up their game. From acting to writing to best drama, this show could be racking up… if only the right people take notice.

Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT, TBS, says, ” Season after season, critics and fans alike have championed TNT’s Southland as one of television’s best dramas. This year, the show has not only solidified its impassioned fan base, but also picked up some new young-adult devotees along the way.” He’s referring to the fact that the show is up  in viewers and the median age has dropped by two years from last season. While that might not sound like a lot, check with your local 7th grader; bringing down the median by two years is a difficult task.

Tell your friends, tell your neighbors and enjoy the show!
