Fox Renews Fringe for Fifth Season
Fringe fans rejoice! Fox just announced that the show has been renewed for a fifth and final season. It will consist of 13 episodes, starting in the fall. That is just enough to get the show into syndication, which was important enough to production company Warner Bros. that they reduced the licensing fees to make it happen.
Fox president Kevin Reilly said in a statement: “Fringe is a remarkably creative series that has set the bar as one of television’s most imaginative dramas. Bringing it back for a final 13 allows us to provide the climactic conclusion that its passionate and loyal fans deserve. The amazing work the producers, writers and the incredibly talented cast and crew have delivered the last four seasons has literally been out of this world. Although the end is bittersweet, it’s going to be a very exciting final chapter.”
The ratings have been horrible, but the show has a very dedicated – albeit small – fan base. Hopefully with syndication as an option, others will someday discover the intelligence of the show. In the mean time, catch the next new episode tomorrow night on Fox. Below, a teaser clip for season 5.
