Is She Is Or Is She Ain’t? Vivian Sessoms Takes the Stage

April 17, 2012

With her latest high-profile show scheduled to be at Manhattan’s renowned Feinstein’s at Loews Regency this Sunday, I am deeming this the Week of Vivian Sessoms. I should have started yesterday, but I didn’t think of it until too late. Just pretend like I did. One day you’ll get two posts.

This week we will celebrate Miss Sessoms’ career, not only as a one of the world’s foremost background vocalists, but also as an independent singer, producer and songwriter as well.

To start things off, here is a video from Miss Sessoms’ first show at Feinstein’s last year. Tackling the Verve Remix of Dinah Washington’s take on the Louis Jordan classic “Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby,” to open the show, it seemed appropriate to open the week. Below that are details on the show.

Sunday, April 22nd – 8:30pm
Park Avenue and 61st Street, NY. NY

Premium Seating – $35. *(with additional $25. minimum)
Regular Seating – $25. *(with additional $25. minimum)

Chris Parks – upright, electric bass, acoustic guitar
Mike Mancini – piano, keys
Noam Dworman – acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, vocals
