Roberts Faces Off Against Theron in Snow White

November 16, 2011

Dueling Snow Whites. It was bound to happen sometime. With two films in production – and a third story about the raven-haired fair-skinned princess pulling in millions on ABC Sunday nights – we have ample opportunities to bite into that apple. Funny enough, with both Mirror, Mirror (out March 16, 2012) and Snow White and the Huntsman (out June 1, 2012), Snow seems almost an after-thought. Instead, we have dueling Evil Queens front and center in the trailers. Both Evil Queen #1 (Julia Roberts, Mirror) and Evil Queen #2 (Charlize Theron, Huntsman) are Oscar winners taking on Disney, yet neither have that Disney vibe. Mirror appears glib and lightweight (that Bollywood opening sequence for the trailer really confused me), while Huntsman appears overwrought and self-important. Want to talk about disappointment.

Lily Collins (Mirror) and Kristen Stewart (Huntsman) play Snow White, but to be honest, I actually think I have an affinity for Once Upon a Time‘s Ginnifer Goodwin. She’s embodying my expectations of who and what Snow White represents. Watch the trailers below… which one looks better to you? Or will you see them both? Or neither?

Am I the only one who thinks that is ridiculous that Kristen Stewart could ever be more beautiful than Charlize Theron?!
Well, I’m going to see them both, but for now I cheer for “Mirror, mirror” (Go, Julia <3)
