First Look: Dallas (2.0), TNT

July 11, 2011

TNT knows drama. Or, at least they claim to. They also know summer, laying claim to the majority of buzzed-about summer programming (along with sister network TBS and USA). And next summer TNT revives one of the biggest hits of the 80s – CBS’ Dallas. In one of the most seamless reboots in recent memory, a handful of the original cast will be around, while the story is propelled forward by using new faces as the offspring of the original cast members.

The new roster reads like a list of Who’s No Longer on Wisteria Lane, with Jesse Metcalfe, Josh Henderson and Brenda Strong (all part of the Desperate Housewives cast) all generating strong roles (Metcalfe will play Christopher, son of Bobby and Pam, Henderson will play John Ross, J.R.’s son and Strong is Bobby Ewing’s new wife, Ann.). Other new cast members include Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious) as Elena Ramos and Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) as Rebecca, Christopher’s fiancée.

Returning original stars are Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing), Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen Ewing).

The teaser video premiered during Monday night’s season openers for The Closer and Rizzoli and Isles. What do you think? Will you tune in?
