MJB Contributes Song to The Help Soundtrack

July 5, 2011

Mary J. Blige knows how to stay in the proverbial loop. And how to tell a story. And how to captivate her audience. So, in a move that makes sense to… everyone with ears and a brain, she’s the one singing the first track released from Tate Taylor‘s Oscar bait upcoming film The Help. Apparently, after watching the film, Blige was moved to write the song, “The Living Truth.”

“The beautiful thing about these women is that they were very smart,” says Blige. “They chose to walk in love and forgiveness. To speak to so many women with this song means a lot to me. I wanted to be involved with this film, because I think we need to encourage each other more, we are here to tell a story.”

The soundtrack will be released July 26, selling at select Starbucks. Additional songs on the soundtrack:

1. The Living Proof – Mary J. Blige
2. Jackson – Johnny Cash and June Carter
3. Sherry – Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
4. I Ain’t Never – Webb Pierce
5. Victory is Mine – Dorothy Norwood
6. Road Runner – Bo Diddley
7. Hallelujah I Love Her So – Ray Charles
8. The Wah-Watusi – The Orlons
9. (You’ve Got) Personality – Lloyd Price
10. Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right – Bob Dylan
