The Event Goes SyFy?

June 1, 2011

NBC

The Event… let’s discuss. So, prior to airing, it was my most-anticipated new series last fall. After a disjointed pilot, I was less convinced, but still eager to see what would happen. As time passed, the series seemed to make a litany of tactical errors that made it more FlashForward (with characters coming, going and making inconceivable decisions – please, someone, explain to me what Hal Holbrook was doing) than 24 or LOST (the two shows NBC touted in the previews). Then, with a last-minute push this past spring, they came through with some borderline ridiculous stories that led us to a series finale that came close to their initial promise, yet was still so far off base that I still left disappointed.

With all due respect to the many fans of The Event (Kateria, I’m talking to you.), I viewed the ending as… the ending. Done. Finished. Well, not so fast. SyFy (also owned by NBC/Universal) is apparently in talks with series creator Nick Wauters and executive producer Steve Stark for a shortened second season, akin to a mini-series. No further details are known at this time, but again, with so many of you being fans, I thought I would pass it along…

i actually think this would work best as a mini-series because quite frankly i wasn’t sure how the storyline could survive a few seasons especially once “The Event” actually occurred.
