joe’s favorite things: B. Oyama Homme

December 15, 2010

To keep my favorite things list going, here’s #2: B. Oyama Homme. Located in Harlem on Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard between 136th and 127th Streets (2330 ACP aka Seventh Avenue), this modern-day haberdashery is chock full of gorgeous ties, beautiful shirts, impressive suits… The clothing selection is incredible and the service impeccable. The prices… well, they’re a little steep, but you’re paying for the quality and that amazing service, so it really isn’t that bad when you weigh it all out.

I have several ties and shirts that I purchased from Bernard Oyama himself (banker, designer and store owner who once ran for president of his native Gabon). Each one generates a ridiculous amount of compliments. If you are a man or have a man who has taste, this is where you should shop. There is a small selection of ladies’ clothing – just as tailored, just as handsome – that has been added within the past couple of years.

This is B. Oyama’s website. When I googled, however, I also found this site. I am not sure what he’s doing, but both seem to be fully functioning sites. Click them both. You have nothing to lose but a little time. And it’s cold outside anyway.
