True Blood Sucks in the Viewers

June 15, 2010

The question has been answered: apparently the season premiere of True Blood was worth the wait.

The season premiere of the campy vampire drama glamoroured 5.1 million viewers for the 9PM show. The 11 PM replay drew another 1.3 million, putting viewership at 6.4 million for the night. As the week progresses, those numbers will go up, as DVR and on-demand counts come in. As always with True Blood, expect the numbers to rise as the season progresses. At least that’s been the case the past two years.

Going strictly on the 9PM show’s numbers, the third season opener was up 38% from the season two premiere and 19% from the season two average. Numbers don’t lie: True Blood is a phenomenon. And I ain’t mad at it.
