Why Dontcha Call YahZarah No More? Free Music!

March 16, 2010

Late last night (or early this morning?), YahZarah released the new single – “Why Dontcha Call Me No More?” – for her upcoming LP, The Ballad of Purple St. James. Produced by Nicolay and Phonte of The Foreign Exchange, and with an impressive roster of collaborators (Lil’ John Roberts, Zo!, Chris Boerner), the single is a rousing aural smack down to the ex who leaves you hung out to dry. Combined with “The Tickler,” which she teased us with this past summer, the new project is looking pretty good. I cannot wait to hear what else she has in her bag of tricks.

Says YahZarah during a twitter conversation we had last night (@YahZarah), “ths single is justa glimpse in2 a album I feel is sum of my bestwork since”Hear Me”it’s rlly the 1sttime ive evr hada chance2 trulyBmyself.” First, let’s give her 3 extra points for fitting that all into 140 characters. Second, you’re smart, you can decipher what she wrote. Third, let’s celebrate that the upcoming album is really a dissection of who YahZarah – the artist, the woman – is. As a fan, this has only whet my appetite. Nice appetizer.
