Gorillaz x Andre 3000 x James Murphy – DoYaThing
I have been down with OutKast since “Player’s Ball” and have loved every single thing they have ever put out, both collectively and independently (interestingly enough, their most popular collection, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, is also the one I love the least. But my version of loving the least is pretty strong.) In any event, Dre, who insists on going by Andre 3000 these days, just released a new song today and it is… hotfiya. Now, let’s clear some things up: this is actually a song from the Gorillaz, featuring James Murphy and Andre 3000. But, my boy kills.The song is called “Do Ya Thing,” but I noticed that the download is more interesting title of “DoYaThang.” Hey, whoever said, “don’t sweat the small stuff” clearly wasn’t into marketing.
The song is a collaborative effort with Converse as they market their new shoes with the Gorillaz. They’re hot shoes. I might get a pair, myself.
And that’s about it. I do need to ask my boy Dre this simple question though: you’ve been on everybody’s tracks recently. Can’t you spit just 16 bars for something with your brother? We need a new song from OutKast in our lives.
